They should be prepared to tell us something about the item. Please put your student's name on jackets, coats, and backpacks. You can help your student by reading to him or her 20 minutes or more per day. Turn in reading slips weekly. Please check your student's backpack. Your student should bring a completed worksheet home almost every day. Please review the worksheets and any other papers that are sent home. It is helpful to have your student practice saying the names and sounds of the letters quickly. If your student cannot write his or her name, please help him or her to practice this at home. Only the first letter should be a capital letter. Sight words for the second quarter are: I, can, the, we, a, like, in, at, to, it, and, go, you, do, as, my, are. For the next few weeks, we will be learning to represent, write, and compare numbers from 1 to 20, to count to 50, and to count forward from a number other than one. We are also learning to decompose numbers. (example: 10 is the same thing as 5 and 5, or 6 and 4, or 7 and 3, etc.) You can help your student by giving him or her opportunities to count and to recognize numerals. We are also learning to understand "more," "less," and "equal to." To log into GO MATH, use your student number for user name and password. |
